Responsibilities

  • SUPERVISION – Provide leadership, supervision, staff development and evaluation for full-time Residence Coordinator(s), Hall Coordinator(s), Program Coordinator(s), Graduate Assistant (s), Resident Assistants, and Desk Assistants working with the Residential Student Experience (RSE) program. Provide oversight for the Training Program Coordinator and the following communities specifically: Wildwood Hall, Traditions Hall, and Ragans Hall (approximately 1,537 students, 35 RAs, 3 Pros, 2 GAs).
  • STAFF TRAINING – Provide oversight of Program Coordinator(s) responsible for training and development of student staff positions including but not limited to Desk Assistants, Academic Trainers, and Resident Assistants (RAs). Ensure student staff training is developed and implemented in accordance with Human Resources, local, state, and federal guidelines. Assist with RSE professional and graduate staff training. Stay up to date with learning theories, strategies, and best practices. Employ and utilize learning assessments.
  • STAFF EVALUATION & ACCOUNTABILITY – Coordinate semester performance appraisals and feedback for student staff and graduate staff. Provide oversight and tracking of the student staff accountability process. Liaison with Housing's RSE and HR leadership regarding student staff job action. Coordinate student staff grade checks and academic probation plans. Assist with updating Coordinator-level performance appraisals and 360 feedback.
  • RESIDENTIAL CURRICULUM – Assist with and oversee the implementation of Residential Curriculum learning goals and events. Track, approve, provide feedback, and assess Community Wide Events in the supervisory area. Monitor programming and Hall Council budgets in the supervisory area. Provide guidance into utilizing the Residential Curriculum to address returning students' needs.
  • RETURNING STUDENT SERVICES – Provide leadership for returning student services and apartment-style communities. Coordinate break staffing plans for Resident Assistants. Liaison with the HOME team on returner open houses. Assist with the implementation of PLACES housing. Oversee the implementation of transition housing.
  • CRISIS MANAGEMENT & EMERGENCY RESPONSE – Serve in on-call duty rotation, providing leadership for approximately 13 weeks per year. Provide crisis response to students, staff, and other constituents as needed. Troubleshoot and respond to issues related to student behavior and facilities maintenance. Serve as a member of the departments emergency response team in events deemed as emergency by the department or the University, such as hurricanes and other natural disasters and infectious disease outbreaks. Emergency response may include additional on call hours beyond duty rotation and may require on campus presence or remote availability before, during or after emergency period as deemed necessary by the department.
  • DEPARTMENTAL REPRESENTATION – Work collaboratively and serve as liaison with internal/external units, including but not limited to Human Resources. Represent University Housing on departmental, divisional, and institutional committees, work groups, and/or task forces. Complete other duties as assigned in support of University Housing.

Qualifications

Master's degree in higher education, student affairs, counseling or a related field and three years of experience in housing.

  • Ability to perform assigned responsibilities with minimal to moderate supervision.
